Central to quaudio™ is a closed-form digital signal processor, which is desirable from a latency and computational point of view. Our method depends solely on determinist aspects of the problem such as the source directions and the multipath characteristics of the reverberant environment. Sound sources are recorded simultaneously with the microphone array, which are then separated based on the analysis of intensity vector directions.
Isolated sound sources can be presented in stereo, surround sound or binaural mode. Binaural signals are generated by filtering each source with its corresponding head related transfer function (HRTF). Due to YouTube limitations the video demonstrations available on this website are limited to two-channel stereo representations; however quaudio™ works equally well with multichannel loudspeaker systems.
